How much does wallbox installation cost in Prague

The most common question, and the one most companies will only answer on the phone. Here are the numbers up front, including what is inside them.

The short answer

For a house in Prague, expect from CZK 28,000 for a simple installation and from CZK 38,000 for the most common one. Both include the charger, labour, materials, the commissioning inspection and the grid-operator paperwork.

  • Simple installation — from CZK 28,000. Consumer unit within five metres, space in the board, supply is adequate. Typically a house garage, done in a day.
  • The most common choice — from CZK 38,000. Cable run of 10 to 25 metres, board extension, new protection devices.
  • Apartment buildings, businesses and difficult cases — individually. Trenching, buried conduit, multiple charging points, sub-metering, capacity increase.

What makes up the price

  • An 11 kW wallbox — CZK 12,000 to 25,000, depending on whether you just want to charge or also meter, control and pair it with solar.
  • Protection devices and cabling — CZK 3,000 to 8,000.
  • Electrician's labour — CZK 5,000 to 10,000.
  • Commissioning inspection — included with us.

Add the items up and you get less than the ranges above. The difference is travel, consumables, the inspection and the paperwork — the things cheap quotes bill separately later.

What moves the price most

Distance from the consumer unit. Three metres in a garage versus thirty across a yard. By far the biggest single difference.

How the cable is run. Surface trunking is cheapest. Chasing into walls, wall penetrations or trenching cost more.

The state of the consumer unit. Is there room for new breakers and an RCD? Old boards sometimes need extending or replacing.

Whether capacity must be increased. If the supply cannot take charging, you add a process with the grid operator and a higher monthly standing charge you pay for years. It can often be avoided — see our article on connecting a wallbox in Prague.

12% VAT instead of 21%

Almost nobody explains this, and on a CZK 38,000 job it is worth around three thousand crowns.

On a completed residential building, wallbox installation falls under the reduced VAT rate as construction and assembly work. Two conditions: you buy the charger together with the installation as one piece of work, not separately as goods, and you sign a declaration about the type of building.

Buy the wallbox in an e-shop and order the installation separately, and you will not qualify. That is why taking it from one supplier usually beats hunting for a discounted charger.

What to check in someone else's quote

  • Is the commissioning inspection included? It is mandatory and your insurer wants it.
  • Who handles the grid-operator paperwork? Some leave it to you.
  • How many metres of cable are included? "Installation from CZK 9,990" usually means three metres and a perfect consumer unit.
  • Is there an RCD that detects DC fault current? An ordinary household RCD is not enough, and this is a safety matter, not a detail.
  • Does the quote still hold after the survey? A price over the phone is not a price.

Why the exact figure only comes after a survey

Because until somebody has seen your consumer unit and the cable route, any number is a guess. We can give you a range on the phone, but not a final price — and anyone who does is counting on billing the difference later.

The survey and the quote are free, the quote holds for 30 days, and what is in it is what you pay. You leave with a document you can use to compare other companies too.
