A wallbox in the towns around Prague: what's different

The short answer

In Prague the grid operator is PREdistribuce; in most of the towns around Prague it's ČEZ Distribuce. The installation itself is the same — what differs is dealing with the grid operator. We handle the paperwork with both.

Where we work

We cover Prague and roughly 30 km around it — for example Říčany, Jesenice, Černošice, Mníšek pod Brdy, Hostivice, Roztoky, Odolena Voda, Klíčany, Brandýs nad Labem-Stará Boleslav or Úvaly. If you're not sure you're in range, put your address in the enquiry.

How to tell which grid operator you have

Look at your electricity bill. The grid operator is listed with the supply point, alongside the main breaker rating. Note that the grid operator isn't your supplier — you choose the supplier; the grid operator is set by your address.

What's different with ČEZ Distribuce

• Requests only via the portal. Since 19 January 2026 ČEZ Distribuce no longer accepts connection requests by e-mail. They go through its Distribution Portal (in Czech).
• Different forms and timelines from PREdistribuce. Whether a notification is enough or a formal request is needed depends on the wallbox's output and your supply — we assess that at the survey.
• If the main breaker needs upgrading, expect it to take weeks. That's why we start on it right after the survey, not after installation.

What we run into at houses outside Prague

• Longer cable routes. The consumer unit is in the house, the car parks by the gate. A pedestal and a trench are often needed.
• Older supplies. Older houses often have a 3×20 A breaker or a single phase. You can still charge — see is a 3×25 A breaker enough?
• Night-time loads. Water heaters, storage heaters or heat pumps on the low tariff often run at night, exactly when the car charges. Dynamic load management handles that.
